Kresta Joins Rally GB Party

Skoda has confirmed that Roman Kresta will drive a third works entry on the Network Q Rally of Great Britain, joining regulars Kenneth Eriksson and Toni Gardemeister on the WRC's season finale in Wales.

Team Principal Pavel Janeba has given his full support to Skoda Motorsport's third entry, commenting: "We are anxious to give Roman his sixth WRC Rally of the season, and we hope that he will help us in our aim of collecting more WRC Manufacturers points for Skoda. Britain has always been an enthusiastic supporter of our rally programme, and a strong market for Skoda."

Kresta was delighted with the last minute entry. He enthused: "After my [manufacturer] points-scoring finish on the Safari Rally in July, I feel I am on the brink of another major step in my career. This is obviously a great opportunity. The Rally of Great Britain is traditionally one where Skoda has good chances and where a driver can show his class."

Having driven on Britain's round of the World Championship last year, Kresta has a good idea of what to expect. "It is a very tough rally - maybe one of the most difficult of all due to the constantly changing weather," he said. "But I am expecting this and will do my best to get a good finish."

Team-mate Kenneth Eriksson is looking forward to the classic gravel event in November. "The Rally of Great Britain is a classic," said the Swede. "Even in the new format it is still a massive test of driver skill and mechanical reliability. On top of that the enthusiasm and knowledge of the British public always make it a pleasure to drive there."
