Solberg is up for shootout in Wales

Subaru's Norwegian star Petter Solberg faces the World Championship showdown on the Rally of Great Britain with renewed confidence after his fifth place on the Catalunya Rally, but rejected any suggestion that winning the 2002 Rally GB made him the title favourite.

"I don't want to say that and I don't want to hear that," he said. "I must say this has been better than expected, because we are just one point behind Carlos [Sainz] and [Sebastien] Loeb. I am closer in the championship than before and this is a tarmac rally, so I cannot complain.

"I must say that Loeb will be very hard to beat. He did a very good performance in Australia, the car is good and he will go quick. Richard [Burns], it is his last rally for Peugeot and so he will go flat out. For me, I don't have to win the rally. We just have to judge the speed and see how the others are going. I think it will be really exciting."
