The 2001 world champ is five points behind championship leaders Sebastien
Loeb and Carlos Sainz and believes that the Citroen pair and title rival
Petter Solberg will have to hit problems if he is to pick up his second
drivers' crown.
"I have to go flat out in maximum attack to have any chance of winning;
I don't have a choice as far as that is concerned," Burns wrote on
richardburns.com. "I don't imagine those ahead of me in the title
race are worried about me, I need to collect a healthy points haul with
others retiring to stand any chance!
"Of the three runners, Carlos, Sebastien and Petter, I would imagine
that at least one of them will finish and subsequently collect a handful
of points to claim the title.
After two years at Peugeot, Burns heads back to Subaru next season and
although he has yet to score a win for the French team, he's satisfied
at being the team's most consistent scorer this season.
"Whatever happens I'll be ending the year as Peugeot's top scorer
and that's pretty satisfying," he added. "The manufacturer's
title is important for the team and I've done everything asked of me to
aid them in their bid to retain their crown."
