Damian Harvey
I've got mixed feelings of the Rally this year.
I got 2 x Saturday 2 day passes and 2 x Sunday 2 day passes. A week before the
rally I received 4 programmes and no tickets. On Thursday I received the Saturday
passes only. Friday I rung the ticket office (Wayahead) saying I had to go to
Cardiff to get the tickets. I wasn't going to bother with the Super Special
but now had to go anyway !
Got to Crychan ok but had to walk for 30 mins when I could have parked a lot
closer due to bad organisation in the car parks. Had to leave before Crychan
2 to get the tickets ! Getting out was a nightmare because there were people
still coming in that paid on the gate. The marshals had no idea how to direct
the traffic .... it must have taken an hour to get out !
Found Rally HQ eventually, got the tickets and the bus to the Super Special.
The food was ok but pricey. Managed to get a bus back ok after leaving straight
after Sollberg did his run. Stayed in Caerphilly so not too far to go.
Left early for Walter's Arena which was set up well, and far better than the
Super Spesh. Had to leave handy to get to Margam. I wasn't happy with the car
park .... I'm not interested in a flying finish in a stately home, why couldn't
we pick our car parks? Last year I was at the hairpin at Car Park L, real rally
fans don't want Super Specials and mickey mouse stages !!! I enjoyed the free
Muller Rices though, that free tray kept me going for days !
So on the whole there was less congestion but bad stage choice. Next year I'll
not bother with tickets and pay on the day. I also think organisers should refund
p+p for the tickets I picked up !
Thanks,
Damian
