My feelings on the Rally are a bit mixed. My tickets and programmes did arrive
on time, although the packaging on the programmes was rubbish !!!! Single person
subsidy - what a rip off. I understand the point, but if you are a person (like
me), none of who's mates would go to the rally, why be penalised an extra £20.00
for the privilege. The organisers clearly don't get this.
The Super Special for me is a waste of time. There really isn't enough to see.
I had tickets for all three nights but only went on the Thursday.
I was on SS2/SS4 on the Friday morning. We were squashed into a 'pen' on a corner.
There were far too many people there so I walked down the stage a bit to find
somewhere better to stand. No marshalls tried to stop me, so when the marshalls
at the next corner sent me back, it was a bit of a suprise!!! After SS2 I found
a good place to stand further down the stage, which was a real shame when they
cancelled it. I used Car Park A and had no trouble with it at all (in or out).
I still don't know why SS4 was cancelled when it was supposed to be ticket only
!!!!!
I like Walters Arena, but I would have prefered to see it in daylight. By the
time the s1600's were coming through it was too dark to really appreciate it.
Saturday - Resolven. I found this okay, apart from the long walk to the stage,
which I could have made much shorter if the car park attendant had really considered
what he was doing. I stayed right to the last car on this stage.
After that - a whole afternoon in the sevice park at Felindre. This would have
been great if there were actually any cars there !!!!!!
Sunday - I didn't go to Resolven, but I did go to Margram. Why would anyone
who has ordered a event pass want to go to Car Park M ? Die-hard rally fans
want to be in the Forest !!!!
Overall I did enjoy myself on the rally. I thought that traffic was better.
Last year it took me two hours to get out of SS2, which really stuffed my day
up. Prices are too much. How does this compare with the other European rounds
? There is room for improvement. Organisers - think about what people want to
do & see.
Best regards
Kevin.
